The Cardinals come into Friday’s game following a 3-1 win over the Mets on Thursday afternoon. The win was credited to Michael McGreevy on the mound with five innings of work and three strikeouts while only giving up one earned run. The Mets struck first with a solo home run in the top of first, but the Cardinals rallied to pull off the win. Nelson Velázquez hit a two-run homer to right field to plate Masyn Winn and take the lead. Alec Burleson brought the final run in with an RBI single to score Nathan Church in the bottom of the second. The remainder of the game was a defensive battle in which both teams showed promise for the upcoming season.

Houston will look to bounce back after a tough 3-2 loss to the Nationals on Thursday night following a delayed start due to weather. The Nationals rallied, however, and scored three unanswered runs to win the game. Logan VanWey took the loss on the mound after giving up one earned run in one inning, blowing the save for Houston.

The Astros and Cardinals have already met three times in spring training play. The Cardinals won the first two meetings with a 6-5 win in the first game and a 9-4 win in the second. The Astros won the third game in a dominant 10-3 victory last week. The teams will meet once more before spring training comes to a close, as well.
