Jose Soriano takes the mound for the Los Angeles Angels against Martin Perez and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday afternoon.
The Los Angeles Angels will take the field at PNC Park again on Wednesday afternoon for the third and final game of this three-game series against the hometown Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates took the first game of the series 4-1 on Monday. Mitch Keller pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk. The offense was provided by a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third inning by Edward Olivares.
The Angels bounced back and dominated last night with a 9-0 shutout win on the road. Patrick Sandoval picked up the win, his second of the season, after going seven innings with seven strikeouts. Left fielder Kevin Pillar had a career game with two home runs and six RBIs, going 3-for-5 on the night. Logan O’Hoppe also had two RBIs in the game.

Los Angeles will put Jose Soriano on the mound to start the game for the series finale. The right-hander is 1-4 this season with a 3.77 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 28.2 total innings. He went 6.0 scoreless innings in his last start, which ended in a 6-0 shutout against the Cleveland Guardians on the road. He had three strikeouts as well.
Martin Perez will get the start for Pittsburgh. The left-hander is 1-2 in his 2024 campaign with a 3.15 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 40 innings. He pitched 5.1 innings in his last start against the Colorado Rockies at home, allowing three runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
