The White Sox couldn’t have started the season any better beating Los Angeles 8-1 on Thursday. This team started the season 3-22 last year in one of the toughest seasons in major league history. The Angels didn’t score until the ninth inning in a game that the White Sox were in complete control in from the second inning. It was all started by Austin Slater who hit a homer in the inning and DH Andrew Benintendi put an exclamation mark on the offensive output with a three-run jack in a five-run eighth inning. Sean Burke pitched a gem going six innings while only giving up three hits. Yusei Kikuchi didn’t necessarily pitch bad but got the loss giving up three runs in six innings with no run support. The Angels had five hits on the night with the lone run coming on a homer from Logan O’Hoppe.

Jonathan Cannon will get the start for the home team tonight. Cannon made his major league debut last year. The righty went 124.1 innings with a 5-10 record and a 4.49 ERA. Jose Soriano will get the start for the Angels. Last season was Soriano’s sophomore year as the righty stepped up his contributions considerably. He went 113 innings with a 6-7 record and a 3.42 ERA.
