Coming off a series win, the Houston Astros look to keep it rolling when they start this weekend series with the Cleveland Guardians.

The Cleveland Guardians host the Houston Astros for the first time this season for this weekend series starting on Friday night. The Astros are trying to maintain their advantage and lead in the AL West, holding a 1.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners. This game will be considered nearly a toss-up with the home team holding a slight -115 line advantage. Which makes sense because the Astros have just one more victory than the Guardians with 34. This is about as even a series as we are going to get on paper this weekend.

Houston is coming off a series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates winning the rubber match on Thursday 8-2. The first two games were split by the exact same 3-0 score. The Astros dominated in the series finale with Framber Valdez commanding the mound after going seven innings while giving up four hits and two runs while striking out 11. Valdez was still able to stay sharp despite the start of the game being pushed back 3 hours and 22 minutes because of rain. Isaac Paredes homered twice to give Valdez all the run support he would need. Colton Gordon will get the start tonight for the Astros with a 0-1 record and a 5.95 ERA.

The Guardians are coming off a series loss against the New York Yankees. The last two games of the series ended in a split in the exact same 4-0 score with Cleveland losing the rubber match on Thursday. Max Fried was just too strong for New York, going six scoreless innings and he only allowed one hit, which was an infield single to Jose Ramirez in the first inning. It was a big bounce back after his first loss of the season, improving 8-1 on the season. Cleveland only had three hits all night. Logan Allen will start for Cleveland tonight coming into the game with a 3-3 record and a 4.22 ERA.
