The Houston Astros look to clinch an Interleague series victory on Wednesday when they face the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

The Houston Astros (33-27) have surged to the top of the American League West with seven wins in their last nine games and can clinch an Interleague series win on Tuesday when they face-off again with the Pittsburgh Pirates (22-39) at PNC Park. Houston has won two straight, while the Pirates have dropped two in a row and three of their last four games. Pittsburgh did get second baseman Nick Gonzales back from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday night after he had been out since breaking his left ankle on opening day.

Lance McCullers Jr. struck out seven in six shutout innings on Tuesday night, allowing only two hits, to earn his first win since 2022, as the Astros beat Pittsburgh 3-0 in the series opener. Christian Walker broke a scoreless tie with a solo homer in the seventh inning and Isaac Paredes added a two-run shot in the ninth. Shortstop Jeremy Peña is slashing .308/.372/.476 with nine home runs and 30 RBIs, while Paredes leads the club with 12 homers and 34 RBIs.

The Pirates managed only four hits on the night, wasting another strong effort from Paul Skenes, who allowed just three hits and fanned eight in eight innings. Isaiah Kiner-Falefa was 2-for-3 out of the No. 9 slot in the order. Center fielder Oneil Cruz slashes .223/.351/.468 with team highs of 12 home runs and 20 stolen bases, while Bryan Reynolds has driven home a club-best 34 RBIs.

Rookie right-hander Mike Burrows (0-1) makes his third start of the season for Pittsburgh on Wednesday. He has allowed nine runs, eight of them earned, in 8.1 innings since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on May 21. Houston goes with right-hander Ryan Gusto (3-2), also a rookie. Gusto makes his eighth start and has a 4.62 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with 42 strikeouts in 39 innings over 13 appearances.
