The Detroit Tigers aim to increase their division lead as they look for their third straight win against the slumping Athletics on Wednesday.

With five losses in their last seven games, the Athletics continue their nine-game road trip on Wednesday night as they look to snap a three-game losing streak against the Detroit Tigers inside Comerica Park. The Tigers lead the American League Central Division and own the best record in baseball as they turn to veteran right-hander Jack Flaherty (5-8, 4.83 ERA) who has been roughed up in his last two starts, allowing 15 earned runs after allowing 15 earned runs in his previous seven outings. The A’s will counter with southpaw Jacob Lopez (1-4, 4.25 ERA) off three straight solid starts, having struck out 23 batters over 16 innings of work and allowing one earned run.
