The Giants came into the series having lost five of six games, but have taken the first two games against the Athletics. The Giants had little trouble winning the opener 9-1, but needed extra innings and a bases-loaded walk to win 1-0 on Saturday in the second game. Wilmer Flores, who hit three home runs and had eight RBIs on Friday, drew the two-out bases-loaded walk on Saturday to give the Giants the win and push their record to 27-19. The Giants now sit in third place in the National League West, two games back of the first place Los Angeles Dodgers. Sunday the Giants will send veteran Justin Verlander to the mound. Verlander is still searching for his first win, as he comes into Sunday 0-3 with a 4.31 ERA. He went six innings in his last start, giving up two runs on nine hits against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
