On the mound for Los Angeles to close the series is right-handed veteran Kyle Hendricks (3-6, 5.40 ERA) in his 13th start of the season. With a win here Hendricks would equal his win total from last season in less than half the starts.

He will duel with fellow veteran right-hander JP Sears (5-5, 5.21 ERA). He has already accounted for a fifth of the Athletics wins this season in a tough year where the team has the fourth-worst record in the MLB.

After this series Los Angeles hits the road for seven straight games, starting with a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles and then four against the New York Yankees. The Athletics wrap up their road trip with a series against the Kansas City Royals.
