Randy Arozarena and Jorge Polanco homered in the outing, with Polanco’s homer breaking a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning. Tyler Soderstrom had two home runs and two RBIs for the Athletics.

The Athletics bounced back yesterday in the second game with a massive 7-0 shutout win. Jeffrey Springs picked up the win after pitching six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Brent Rooker hit a two-run home run to give them the lead in the fifth inning, and they piled it on from there. Luis Urias and Max Muncy both had solo shots in the win.

Osvaldo Bido will get the ball to start the game for the Athletics in the third game. The right-hander finished his spring training campaign with a 1-2 record and a massive 7.02 ERA with 18 strikeouts. In his first year with the A’s last season, he finished 5-3 in nine starts with a 3.41 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 63.1 innings pitched.

Seattle will turn to the No. 3 man in their starting pitching rotation, Bryce Miller, to start the game today. The right-hander finished his spring training with a 1-0 record and a 3.77 ERA with 17 strikeouts. In two years with Seattle, he has a 3.52 ERA after boasting a 2.94 ERA last year with a 12-8 record. He also had 171 strikeouts in 180.1 innings last season.
