The Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates will start two up-and-coming rookies for Game 2 of this series on Saturday.

The Athletics go for the series win against the Pittsburgh Pirates on the road on Saturday night. This is the only series of the season between these interleague opponents. The A’s will go for their third win in a row tonight. The Athletics have been pretty good on the road this season sitting a game above .500. The A’s won the opener on Friday night in a close matchup, by a 4-3 final. Things were looking great for the Pirates to get out of this slump. Nick Kurtz got the A’s on the board for their first run of the night with a solo shot in the fourth. It was Lawrence Butler who got the go-ahead run by hitting a three-run homer in the fifth. Luis Severino got the win pitching five innings, while only giving up five runs.

The Pirates will try to even this series by starting their promising young rookie pitcher in Bubba Chandler. The righty is 2-1 with a 5.66 ERA. He only has one bad game in five starts this season. He pitched great in his last outing against the Washington Nationals, where he went six innings while only giving up one run and two hits. The A’s will counter with Luis Morales, who is 4-1 with a 3.08 ERA. The righty is also a rookie with a great start, making his MLB debut at the beginning of August.
