The Athletics look to clinch a series win on Saturday when they play the Kansas City Royals. The Athletics snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday when they beat the Royals 6-4 in the opener of a three-game series. The win snapped a 14-game road losing streak for the Athletics. Austin Wynns and Luis Urias both hit home runs and Luis Severino pitched seven and two-third innings to earn the win. The win pushed the A’s record to 27-44 on the season. Saturday they will send Jacob Lopez to the mound as they try and get a second straight win. Lopez is still searching for his first win of the season as he comes into Saturday 0-4 with a 6.00 ERA. The A’s did win his last start, but he didn’t factor into the decision because he pitched just four innings. He only gave up one run on four hits, but was pulled after throwing 91 pitches.

The Royals will turn to Michael Lorenzen as they try and avoid a fifth straight loss. They were swept in three games by the New York Yankees in their last series and couldn’t snap out of their funk on Friday.

Lorenzen is 4-6 with a 4.94 ERA on the season. The Royals have won his last two starts, but he hasn’t pitched particularly well.

He did give up just two runs in his last outing, but had given up 13 combined runs in his previous two starts.

The loss on Friday dropped the Royals to 24-25 on the season and has them two games back of the Cleveland Guardians for third place in the AL Central.
