The Kansas City Royals return home on Friday to take on the Oakland Athletics in the opener of a three-game series. The Royals just finished a seven-game road trip in which they went 4-3. They took a series from the Los Angeles Angels, but then lost two of three to the Seattle Mariners. The series loss to the Mariners dropped them to 26-19 on the season and has them just a game and a half back of the first-place Cleveland Guardians in the AL Central. Friday they will look to get back in the win column when they send Cole Ragans to the mound. Ragans comes into Friday 2-3 with a 4.22 ERA.

The A’s as a team have struggled also as they have just two wins over their last 11 games and it has dropped them to 19-26 on the season.

They had been playing well as they had gotten back to .500 at 17-17, but it has gone downhill since as they have lost series to the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners and then were swept by the Houston Astros.
