Off back-to-back series losses, the Orioles continue their western road trip to start a three-game series against the Diamondbacks

After taking two of three games from the Yankees the Diamondbacks dropped two of three games at Washington over the weekend as they return home to Chase Field on Monday night for the series opener against the visiting Baltimore Orioles. On a six-game road trip, The Orioles have lost four of their last six games losing consecutive series to the Red Sox and the Royals and have struggled to find some consistency on offense failing to score four or more runs in consecutive games so far this season. Baltimore has averaged 9.3 runs in its four victories but has managed just 10 runs total in their six losses.

Arizona will start 29-year-old right-hander Zac Gallen (1-1, 3.38 ERA) in his third outing of the season after getting roughed up for four earned runs while walking four batters in four innings of work against the Cubs on Thursday. Gallen, a 2023 All-Star, made his big-league debut in 2019 with the Marlins before being dealt to Arizona at the deadline for Jazz Chisholm and has thrived in Phoenix winning 12 or more games each of the last three seasons. 

Baltimore will counter with veteran righty Zach Eflin (1-1, 3.75 ERA) in his third start of the campaign off a solid outing against the Blue Jays on Thursday where he allowed just two hits over six innings of work to secure his first win of the season.

The Orioles have controlled this series over the last two seasons winning four of the last five meetings including taking two of three from the Diamondbacks at Camden Yards in 2024.
