The Boston Red Sox go for their sixth win in a row when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.

The Boston Red Sox are glad to stay at home and keep the momentum rolling as they host the Toronto Blue Jays for a new series starting Monday night. After a 1-4 start to the season, Boston will be going for its sixth win in a row tonight. The Red Sox are coming off a sweep against the St. Louis Cardinals where they dominated on Sunday Night Baseball winning 18-7 in the second game of a double header. The Blue Jays are coming off the wrong end of a sweep at the hands of the New York Mets where they really struggled to get any offense rolling scoring just three total runs in the series. Boston will subsequently be the -130 favorite to win the opener tonight.

The Red Sox played a double header on Sunday after Game 2 of their series against the Cardinals got rained out. Boston won the first game on Sunday afternoon by a 5-4 final in 10 innings after Wilyer Abreu hit the walk-off single off the Green Monster. Then the Sunday Night Baseball game got out of hand quickly. Boston was up 10-0 after three innings. Alex Bregman hit a three-run homer and tied a career-high with six RBIs. If that wasn’t enough, Rafael Devers collected four hits and drove in three. At their peak, Boston was up as much as 18-3 before St. Louis rallied a bit in the ninth inning. Boston will try to keep it rolling by starting Richard Fitts. The righty is trying to bounce back from a loss going six innings while giving up three runs and three hits against Texas in his season debut in a game that the Rangers ultimately won 3-2.

Toronto is coming off a 2-1 loss to the New York Mets to complete the wrong end of the sweep on Sunday. It was New York’s first sweep of the Blue Jays since 2001. The Blue Jays were limited to just four hits and their only run came in the fifth after Andres Gimenez was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The good news for Toronto on Sunday was that the team announced Vladimir Guerrero Jr. agreed to a 14-year, $500 million massive extension. That should put this offense at ease for decades to come.
