The Blue Jays and Yankees hit the field Sunday afternoon in the first game of a doubleheader

The Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees play a doubleheader on Sunday to wrap up their three-game series. The Blue Jays took the first game of the series 4-2 on Friday, but their game on Saturday was postponed due to rain. The two teams will make up that game as part of a day/night doubleheader. The Blue Jays come to New York on a five-game losing streak, but the win on Friday got them back to .500 on the season at 13-13. They currently sit in third place in the AL East, a half game back of the Boston Red Sox. in the first game of the doubleheader the Blue Jays will send Kevin Gausman to the mound. He is 2-2 with a 3.16 ERA on the season. In his last start he went six innings and gave up four runs in a 7-0 loss to the Houston Astros. In the nightcap the Blue Jays will start Chris Bassitt on the mound. He has pitched well this season and comes into Sunday 2-1 with a 1.88 ERA. Despite his low ERA, the Blue Jays are just 2-3 with him on the mound this season.

The Yankees will turn to Max Fried in the first game of the series. Fried has been great in his first year in the pinstripes. He comes into Sunday 4-0 with a 1.42 ERA.

The Yankees have won all five of his starts and he has given up two of fewer runs in each of his last four outings.

In the second game of the doubleheader they will start Clarke Schmidt on the mound. Schmidt is still searching for his first win as he comes into Sunday 0-1 with a 7.45 ERA.

With the loss on Friday the Yankees have now dropped three of their last four games and they are now 15-11 on the season.

They still sit in first place in the AL East and are a game and a half up on the Boston Red Sox for the top spot.
