The Toronto Blue Jays go for the sweep of their AL East rivals the New York Yankees, when the ALDS moves to the Bronx, NY on Tuesday night.

The New York Yankees will finally get a desperate change in scenery when they get back home to host the Toronto Blue Jays, in Game 3 of the ALDS on Tuesday. This series couldn’t be much more lopsided in favor of the Blue Jays, with Toronto holding a commanding 2-0 lead with a chance to clinch the series tonight. These two finished with the same regular-season record of 94-68, largely because the Yankees finished the season on an eight-game winning streak. But little of that has translated in the ALDS, even after getting momentum from beating their most bitter rival in the Wild Card series in the Boston Red Sox. Toronto got homefield advantage after winning the season-series against New York, and that helped the Blue Jays get off to a hot start in this series. Their offense is dominating, winning Game 1 10-1 and Game 2 by a 13-7 final. Toronto was up 12-0 in the last game before New York got on the board. The good news for the Yankees is that they are the -155 favorites to win this game at home tonight, and avoid the sweep.

The offense was certainly the story for the Blue Jays in Game 2, but Trey Yesavage made headlines of his own on the mound. The rookie set a Blue Jays postseason record by striking out 11 in 5.1 innings. If that wasn’t enough, he didn’t give up a hit that whole way to earn his first October victory. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made a ton of noise of his own, hitting the first grand slam in Toronto postseason history as well. It was the second game in a row where the Blue Jays reached double digits in runs and hits. There were plenty of home runs to go around for Toronto, with Daulton Varsho hitting two and he had four extra base hits. Ernie Clement and George Springer also got in on the long ball, with the former hitting a two-run jack for the first runs of the game. The Blue Jays put it in a bit of a cruise control after the sixth inning though. New York made it somewhat interesting, scoring five in the seventh inning. Cody Bellinger hit a two-run dinger in the sixth to get the first runs on the board for the Yankees.

New York will get just what the doctor order in a reliable starting pitcher tonight, as it’ll start Carlos Rodon. The lefty went 18-9 which was tied for second in the majors, and he added a sharp 3.09 ERA eclipsing 200 strikeouts on the season. Toronto will start veteran Shane Bieber, who has plenty of postseason experience of his own. Bieber is in his first season in a Blue Jays uniform, after playing for the Cleveland Guardians for seven seasons. Bieber went 4-2 in seven starts for Toronto in the regular season, with a 3.57 ERA. He missed much of the 2024 and ’25 season recovering from Tommy John surgery, and was traded by Cleveland at the trade deadline.
