Rafael Devers and the San Francisco Giants host the Boston Red Sox in the third and final game of this heightened series.

One week ago this series between the fifth place San Francisco Giants (43-38) in the National League and the sixth place Boston Red Sox (40-38) in the American League was innocuous as them come. However, Boston trading star Rafael Devers to San Francisco unexpectedly added much more intrigue and importance. In this series Devers did not come out in game one and take the opportunity to torch his former team going 0-5 from the plate. He woke up in game two with a two-run home run in the third inning that ended up being the deciding runs in the game. That sets this third game of the series as a rubber match between Devers and his new team versus his old team.

Left-handed veteran Robbie Ray (8-2, 2.68 ERA) takes the mound for San Francisco to try and close out the series with a win. Ray is off to his best start since 2017 and is on pace for a career-best season.

On the other side for Boston is right-handed veteran Lucas Giolito (3-1, 4.73 ERA) making his 10th start of the season. Gioloto is coming off back-to-back games without allowing an earned run in 12.0 innings pitched.

Boston stays on the road and the west coast with a three-game road series against the Los Angeles Angels next. San Francisco takes a day off before a home series against the Miami Marlins.
