After a blockbuster trade that sent Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, the Boston Red Sox try to turn the page when they play the Seattle Mariners on Monday.
The Boston Red Sox (37-36) shook things up over the weekend with a blockbuster trade. They sent three-time All-Star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants for a package that included two pitchers and two prospects. Devers was considered a cornerstone of the franchise and a major part of its future. Now Boston starts this series on Monday with the Seattle Mariners (36-34) without Devers, who led the team in batting average, home runs, RBIs, on base percentage and more. Boston was rolling leading up to the trade, winning five straight and seven of the last eight games overall. Seattle also comes in playing well, sweeping the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend.
