The Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves play for the final time this season on Wednesday afternoon to decide this series.

This series is all tied up as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday afternoon for this getaway rubber match. This is the only series between these two this season. The Blue Jays should be the favorite at home in this series finale. The Braves are just 2-10 on the road to start the season and just 5-12 overall. Atlanta must be dying to get back home. Toronto is 10-8 on the season and 6-3 at home. The Braves won the series opener on Monday 8-4 behind two home runs and five RBIs from Austin Riley. The Blue Jays countered on Tuesday with a 6-3 win to tie the series.

Riley hit another home in the first inning of Game 2 on Tuesday, but Toronto took over the night from there. The Blue Jays brought the long ball as well with left fielder Alan Roden earning his first home run. Anthony Santander connected on a three-run homer soon after in part of a five-run inning to open up the game. Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies hit a couple of solo shots after, but it wasn’t nearly enough to fully mount a comeback. After the early homer, Toronto starter Kevin Gausman settled down and went six strong innings while giving up six hits and only two runs with six strikeouts.

Chris Bassitt will try to replicate that performance from Gausman as the righty will get the start in the finale for the home team. Bassitt has pitched great in his last two starts, but has been handed with a no decision in both games. He is 1-0 with a 0.98 ERA. He only gave up one run in his last start against the Boston Red Sox in 5.2 innings in a game the Blue Jays ultimately lost in 10 innings. Spencer Strider will make his first start of the season for the Braves and they need him to help stabilize this rotation. After making 32 starts in 2023 with 3.86 ERA, Strider only made two starts last season including the Opening Day start. In his next start of 2024, he experienced elbow discomfort and underwent UCL repair surgery.
