The first game of the three-game series gets underway on Friday night. For the Braves this is a quick turnaround – they were out west on Thursday night and went to 11 innings with the Athletics in Sacramento, in what ended up being a 5-4 loss.

For the Cardinals, this series is the second half of a six-game home stand this week. They hosted the Washington Nationals to start things off, and took two of three games including an 8-1 win on Thursday.

This will be the second series of the year between the Braves and Cardinals. They met in Atlanta in late April, and the Braves took two of three games. Atlanta scored a total of 15 runs in that high-scoring series.

St. Louis’ one win also had a significant offensive output, in a 10-4 game. Lars Nootbaar and Nolan Gorman combined to drive in six of the 10 runs for the Cards in that one.
