The San Diego Padres look to eliminate the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night in Game 2 of their Wild Card series.
The San Diego Padres host the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night in Game 2 of their Wild Card series. The Padres shutout the Braves on Tuesday night and are now just a win away from clinching a berth in the National League Division Series and play the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Padres got a great pitching performance from Michael King in Game 1, as he went seven innings and allowed five hits. King struck out 12 and didn’t allow a run to get the win. Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and that was all the scoring the Padres would need in their 4-0 win.
The Padres will now send Joe Musgrove to the mound, as they look to eliminate the Braves from the playoffs. Musgrove went 6-5 with a 3.88 ERA and 101 strikeouts on the season. Musgrove missed almost three months of the season with an injury. The Padres are 5-4 in his nine starts since returning from the IL.

The Braves will turn to Max Fried on Wednesday as they look to even the series and force a decisive Game 3 on Thursday.
Fried finished the regular season 11-10 with a 3.25 ERA and 166 strikeouts. He has been good in the last two starts, giving up just two combined runs in wins against the Kansas City Royals and Miami Marlins.
It won’t matter how well Fried pitches if the Braves can’t get anything going on offense. They did get seven hits on Tuesday, but couldn’t get any runs across.
