It should be strong pitching throughout the day with big-time pitching matchups in both games. In the day game the Braves will send righty AJ Smith-Shawver to the mound against Phillies lefty Christopher Sanchez. Smith-Shawver is 3-2 with a 3.67 ERA this season, while Sanchez is 4-1 with a 3.17 ERA.

That’s the opening act, but the real main event is in the late game. Reigning National League Cy Young winner lefty Chris Sale will be on the hill for the Braves, taking on Phillies righty Zack Wheeler. Wheeler’s start positions him to compete to follow Sale as the Cy Young – he’s got a 6-1 record with a 2.42 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 88 strikeouts in 70.2 innings over 11 starts so far this year.
