The Tampa Bay Rays host the Atlanta Braves for the only series between these two this season starting Friday.

The Atlanta Braves have been playing a bit better of late winning three of their last five games but have still yet to win a home game coming into this weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays. It feels safe to say they will have a good shot at getting at least one win on the road this series as the Rays have lost four of their last five games. But the Braves are still 3-9 after losing their first seven games of the season. The Rays therefore will be the slight favorite at home with a -125 line in their favor.

Atlanta is coming off a series win against the Philadelphia Phillies winning two of the three games at home. The Braves are coming off a 4-2 win in the 11th inning on a walkoff to win the series on Thursday. The heroics were all thanks to Marcell Ozuna who hit a two-run homer win the series. The game ended nearly at 1 a.m. on the east coast after almost a three-hour rain delay. The teams had only scored one run apiece by the third inning and neither scored again until the 11th inning with the Braves down a run going into the bottom of the final frame. Bryce Elder will get the start in this opener for Atlanta. The righty has yet to record a win or loss going four innings while giving up three runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers in his season debut.

The Rays lost their last series against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday losing in a rout in the rubber match 11-1. Jo Adell homered twice in the fifth inning to put the game away becoming only the third Angel to ever hit two homers in one inning. Mike Trout and Taylor Ward also hit two homers in the game. Jose Soriano dominated Tampa Bay by going 7.2 innings while only giving up one run on five hits. That lone run for the Rays came in the fourth on a RBI single from Jonathan Aranda. Tampa Bay will try to bounce back by starting Taj Bradley. The righty is 1-0 and got the no-decision in his last start against the Texas Rangers going five innings while giving up four runs and two homers.
