Early on in Monday’s MLB slate, the Milwaukee Brewers visit the Cleveland Guardians to kick off a three game interleague series.

On Monday night, the Cleveland Guardians (23-17) host the Milwaukee Brewers (20-21) at Progressive Field to begin a three-game series. It’s the first game on the MLB schedule on Monday to kick off the week. The Guardians are trying to get back on track in this game and this series. They’d won three series in a row heading into last weekend, at one point winning seven of nine games. However they lost that stretch over the weekend, dropping back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday after beating the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday night in the series opener.

The Brewers also lost their last series, on the road against the Tampa Bay Rays. They dropped two of those three games but were able to close the weekend on a high note as they beat the Rays 4-2 on Sunday. Designated hitter Christian Yelich went 2-for-4 with a home run in that one.

It’ll be a couple of veteran righties on the mound to start this game. Freddy Peralta will get the ball for the Brewers and Ben Lively gets the ball for the Guardians.

Peralta has been excellent to start the year, although his win-loss record doesn’t full reflect that. In eight starts he’s 2-1, but has a 2.18 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 48 strikeouts in 45.1 innings. Peralta’s ERA ranks fourth in the National League and 12th in all of baseball heading into play on Monday.
