The Brewers did lose their last game on Wednesday to just miss out on sweeping the Baltimore Orioles. Milwaukee dropped the finale 8-4, but the bottom fell out in the 11th inning. The win ended an eight-game losing streak for Baltimore. Adley Rutschman hit a three-run shot in the top of the 11th inning to break away from the Brewers. Milwaukee came back to tie it in the bottom of the ninth with two outs on a Caleb Durbin RBI single. The Brewers would tie it again in the bottom of the 10th on a RBI single from Jackson Chourio, but eventually the rally ran out. Milwaukee has yet to announce a starter for this opener against Pittsburgh.

The Pirates won their rubber match against the Reds on Wednesday, winning 3-1 to win back-to-back games. Andrew Heaney was sharp on the mound, getting the win going five innings while only giving up three hits and one run. There were four other relievers that only gave up one more hit. Catcher Henry Davis hit an RBI single in the fourth to get the go-ahead run and the Pirates never looked back. Pittsburgh will hope for a similar pitching performance when starting Mike Burrows tonight. He is making his season debut after only making one appearance in his rookie season in 2024.
