A day after their season best four-game winning streak was snapped, the Atlanta Braves return to Truist Park on Wednesday afternoon for the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals in search of their third series win of the year and their first series win against the Cardinals since 2023. The Braves will send right-hander Bryce Elder (0-1, 7.20 ERA) to the mound in the getaway day matinee for his fourth start of the season having been roughed up allowing three or more runs in each of his first three starts. St. Louis will counter with veteran righty Miles Mikolas (0-2, 7.64 ERA), who has failed to make it into the sixth inning in any of his last three starts.

With a team leading 16 RBIs on the season, Braves third baseman Austin Riley is hitting .298 and leads the club in hits, doubles, home runs and total bases and has collected two or more hits in 10 of his last 14 games. In his seventh season with Atlanta, Riley is looking to rebound from a down 2024 where he posted a career low .256 batting average and drove in just 56 runs after three consecutive 90-RBI seasons. He missed six weeks due to a hand injury late in the season.

Cardinals second baseman Brendan Donovan, who leads the team by hitting .356 this season, missed Tuesday’s game with a rib injury and is questionable to see the lineup in Wednesday’s series finale.

St. Louis has won 10 of the last 14 games in this series dating back to Sept. 2023 and has won each of the last three series against Atlanta.
