However, Miami improved to 59-65 on the season with a win over the Red Sox on Sunday, and return home where they’re 28-31. St. Louis, on the other hand, fell to 61-64 on the season with a loss to the Yankees and have now lost five-straight games. The Marlins will send righty Eury Perez to the mound against Cardinals lefty Matthew Liberatore in the series opener.

Most recently, the Marlins avoided a series sweep with a 5-3 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday. The Marlins scored three times in the top of the ninth inning, including a two-run home run by Jakob Marsee after pinch-hitting in the inning. 

As for St. Louis, the Cardinals fell to the Yankees in an 8-4 loss to New York at Busch Stadium on Sunday. The Yankees scored four times in the top of the ninth inning to take the lead for good. Yohel Pozo hit a solo homer for the Caridnals in the loss.
