Meanwhile, the Mets took the last spot in the playoff race as the sixth team in the National League standings, courtesy of an overall record of 89-73. The Mets then went up against the Brewers in the NL Wild Card Series.

The Mets won game one of the series against the Brewers 8-4 at American Family Field, thanks to runs from Francisco Lindor, Jose Iglesias, Brandon Nimmo, Mark Vientos, Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker.

After losing game two, New York bounce back to win the series in game three thanks to a 4-2 win in Milwaukee. Lindor, Nimmo, Alonso and Winker all scored runs in the series-clinching win.

Then, the Mets went on to face the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS. The team from New York won games one, three and four to take the series against Philly and go on to meet the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

In the National League Championship Series, the Mets lost in six games to the eventual World Series champion Dodgers.
