The St. Louis Cardinals go for the series sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.

The I-70 series comes to a close as the Kansas City Royals host the St. Louis Cardinals in this series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals are going for their fourth win in a row while the Royals try to avoid losing five straight. The Royals are still three games over .500 but they are now 5.5 games back of the Detroit Tigers in the strong AL Central division. That’s not to mention that Kansas City now has to keep pace with the Minnesota Twins who have won 13 games in a row. With the Cardinals’ winning streak, they are just one game back in the NL Central from their other hated rival in the Chicago Cubs. Oddsmakers see this finale as a coin flip, though, with both teams having -110 odds to win Sunday.

The first two games have been completely different tales but the outcomes were the same. St. Louis dominated in the opener Friday winning 10-3. They came back in Game 2 with a brilliant pitcher’s duel winning 1-0 on Saturday. Miles Mikolas was brilliant for the Cardinals, going six shutout innings while only giving up two hits to improve to 3-2 on the season. The win shouldn’t overshadow how great Noah Cameron’s start for the Royals was though. He went 6.1 innings while also only giving up two hits. His only mistake was a solo shot to Jordan Walker in the sixth inning for the game’s only run. St. Louis won despite only earning two hits the entire night.

We should be in for another great pitching matchup for the finale. St. Louis will try to keep it rolling by starting Matthew Liberatore, who is 3-3 with a 3.11 ERA. The Royals will try to avoid the sweep by starting Michael Wacha, who is 3-4 with a 2.96 ERA. It feels like both starters should have better records, considering how well they’ve been pitching.
