Chicago is coming off of a series with the Braves where it won the three-game series 2-1. It was the first two games, 1-0 and 6-3; it lost the last game 6-3. It is now on a two-game losing streak.
The Pirates sit just in front of Chicago as the No. 3 team in the NL Central. They are 10.5 games back from the Brewers, who are the co-leaders in the division.
Pittsburgh didn’t win its last series like Chicago. It lost two games to one to the Giants and it lost the first two 2-0 and 7-5 and then won the last 4-3.
The team also made light work of Chicago in the first game against these two teams after it went up 7-0 after the first three innings scoring three in the second and four in the third.
