Charlie Blackmon had a great night at the plate in game two against the San Francisco Giants.
In the game before, he hit his 200th career home run, which was a pinch-hit homer that gave the edge the Rockies needed to win the game 5-3. Last night he got his 1500th hit in a Colorado Rockies uniform. He scored the Rockies’ first and only run on a single in the third inning. The game was tied up going into extras at a run apiece. Then Luis Gonzalez hit a single into right field and that’s when Blackmon’s career night came crashing down in a hurry.

Blackmon charged the ball to prevent shortstop Donovan Walton from scoring from first. The Rockies all-time great got overzealous and overcharged the ball. Running back to get the misplayed ball was all the time Walton needed to dash home and walk off the game giving the Giants a 2-1 victory. This was after Blackmon threw out a runner at the plate to save a run in the fifth inning.
The series is still up for grabs as these two are tied going into the rubber match. Colorado will start Austin Gomber, who is 2-6 with a 6.54 ERA. The Giants will have an excellent chance to build off last night’s momentum by starting Logan Webb, who is 5-1 with a 3.82 ERA.
