The Cardinals are leading this series 2-1 going into the finale. St. Louis got the better of Chicago in the first two games, but the Cubs bounced back on Wednesday beating the Cardinals 8-0. The win on Wednesday ended a three-game losing streak for Chicago. The Cubs will be the slight -135 favorites to tie this series today, even on the road. Chicago still leads the division, but the Cardinals are gaining ground just 3.5 games back of first place.

The game was over from the first at-bat on Wednesday, with Ian Happ hitting a leadoff homer that set the tone. Happ had himself a day driving in three runs total. St. Louis was held to just four hits all night, and most of that had to do with the start of Matthew Boyd. The lefty has been clutch for the Cubs this season improving to 7-3, after only giving up three hits in six scoreless innings. Catcher Reese McGuire and Kyle Tucker both got in on the fun on the offensive side with both hitting homers in the lopsided game.

Chicago will try to replicate that pitching performance by starting Shota Imanaga in the finale. The lefty has a great shot at achieving that feat with a 3-2 record and a 2.82 ERA. The Cardinals will try to bounce back with Andre Pallante who is 5-3 with a 4.48 ERA.
