The Cubs look to break a two-game losing streak on Tuesday when they take on the Phillies in Game 2 of their series.

The Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies square off in Game 2 of their three-game series on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park. The Cubs look to break a two-game losing streak after dropping the opener on Monday night in a tight 4-3 battle. The Cubs are currently leading the NL Central with a record of 40-26 and hold a 3.5 game lead over the Cardinals in second place. After a slow start this season, the bats of Seiya Suzuki and Ian Happ heated up, giving the Cubs some pop in the heart of their lineup. On Monday night, both men went 1-for-5 with one RBI to help the Cubs keep the game close, but the team came up just short as Brandon Marsh walked it off for the Phillies in the 11th.

The Phillies, currently in second place in the NL East with a record of 38-28, come into this contest with one of the league’s most explosive offenses. Bryce Harper had been a dominant force for the Phillies, but he is currently on the 10-day injured list due to right wrist inflammation. Despite his absence, Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto delivered on Monday night with RBIs while Weston Wilson also plated a run. Philadelphia’s starting pitching has been anchored by Zack Wheeler and Ranger Suárez, but the Game 2 start is expected to go to Mick Abel who is 1-0 on the season with a 0.79 ERA.

Game 1 was closer than the Phillies would have liked and with a home crowd behind them, will look to jump out to an early lead in Tuesday’s Game 2. The Cubs won’t go away easily, however, and will likely show more resilience like they did late in Monday’s game to force extra innings.

With clear skies in the forecast and two talented squads facing off, Tuesday’s game promises to be a compelling matchup under the Philadelphia skyline.
