The postseason-bound Chicago Cubs open a four-game series with the wild card hopeful Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park on Thursday.

The Chicago Cubs (88-64) punched their ticket to the postseason on Wednesday afternoon, but remain five games behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central as they open a four-game series with their division rival Cincinnati Reds (76-76) on Thursday night at Great American Ball Park. The Reds picked up a game in the NL wild card chase on Wednesday and trail the New York Mets by two games for the final spot. Chicago reached the playoffs for the first time since the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season and the first time in a full season since 2018.
