The Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox hit the field in Arizona on Friday afternoon in a spring training battle. This will be the only meeting during spring training for the two teams, but they will meet in their annual cross town rivalry during the regular season. The Cubs come into Friday having lost three of their last four after starting spring without a loss in their first 11 games. This is also the second to last road game for the Cubs during spring training. They will play on the road against the Guardians on Monday, but will play their last six at home. That is interrupted by their trip to Japan where they will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in a two-game series to open the regular season on March 18 and 19. The Cubs will then play seven straight games on the road when the regular season continues for them starting on March 27.

The White Sox are coming off one of the worst regular seasons in baseball history and if spring is any indication it isn’t getting better for this season.

They started spring with five straight losses and come into Friday just 3-10. They did beat the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 on Wednesday, but turned around and lost to the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.

The White Sox will also play at home on Saturday against the Dodgers before they play three straight on the road starting on Monday against the Guardians.
