Off their first win of the season, the Detroit Tigers continue their west coast road trip against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

After a lackluster campaign in 2024 coming back from Tommy John surgery, Detroit Tigers right-hander Casey Mize makes his 2025 debut on Tuesday night inside T-Mobile Park as they take on the Seattle Mariners in the second game of a three-game midweek series. The Mariners have lost three of their first five games this season, as they send right-hander Logan Gibert (0-0, 1.29 ERA) to the mound for his second start of the year after tossing a gem in his opener, striking out eight batters and allowing just two hits over seven innings, but did not factor in the decision in a 4-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

Detroit’s offense has been a pleasant surprise so far this season, ranking fifth in Major League Baseball, hitting .293 and scoring four or more runs in three of their four games this season after failing to hit north of .240 over the last three years. Veteran outfielder Manuel Margot leads the Tigers, hitting .556  with three RBIs through three games, while second-year catcher Dillon Dingler is hitting .455 with five RBIs, and veteran first baseman Spencer Torkelson is tied for the team lead with 10 total bases through four games.

Mariners second baseman Jorge Polanco comes into this game on a four-game hitting streak and leads the team with four RBIs through four games. The 31-year-old switch hitter is in his second season with Seattle after 10 years in Minnesota where he posted five double-digit home run seasons, including a career-high 33 in 2021.

Detroit has won nine of the last 11 games in this series and five of the last seven games in Seattle with each of the last four Tigers road wins coming by two or more runs.
