Merrill Kelly and the Arizona Diamondbacks will take on Connor Gillispie and the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday night, the Miami Marlins will open up a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at loanDepot Park for the first of six games between these two teams this season. The Diamondbacks head into this road series with a 9-7 record this season. They are the No. 4 team in the National League West, 1.5 games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers. They were able to pick up two wins at home in their last series, beating the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-game set, including the last two games straight.

The Marlins also open this series with a record just over the .500 mark at 8-7. They are the No. 3 team in the NL East, a game back of the Philadelphia Phillies. Similar to Arizona, they won two of three games, the last two specifically, in their last series against the Washington Nationals at loanDepot Park. Matt Mervis has been the best at the plate for Miami with five home runs and 11 RBIs.

Merrill Kelly will get the start for the visiting Diamondbacks. The right-handed starting pitcher is 2-1 this season with a 7.20 ERA and just seven strikeouts in 15.0 innings. His last start ended in a 4-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles, where he pitched six innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts. That was his best outing of the season.

Miami will play on its home field for the second straight series, this time starting Connor Gillespie on the mound in the first game. The right-hander is 0-1 this season with a 3.86 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 14 innings. He lost his last start on the road against the New York Mets. He gave up two earned runs on three hits in 4.0 innings.
