On Wednesday evening, the Miami Marlins will take their home field at loanDepot Park for the second game of a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The visiting Diamondbacks took the first game of the series on Tuesday night with a 10-4 win in Florida. Merrill Kelly picked up his third win of the season after allowing just one earned run on three hits with nine big strikeouts over six innings pitched. Arizona ended up blasting three home runs as Corbin Carroll had a night to remember at the plate.

Carroll finished 2-for-5 with two runs, a home run, and five RBIs. Geraldo Perdomo had just one hit on the night, but it was a three-run home run that scored Carroll and Garrett Hampson. Josh Naylor had a solo home run as well. The Marlins didn’t hit any out of the park, but they were led by Liam Hicks, who had two RBIs in the first game.

Arizona will start the second game of the series with Brandon Pfaadt on the mound. The right-handed starting pitcher is 2-1 this season with a 3.50 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 18.0 innings. He has allowed four home runs this season as well. He threw six scoreless innings in a 9-0 win over the Baltimore Orioles in his last start with three strikeouts.

Max Meyer will get the start on Wednesday for the hometown team in Miami. The right-hander is 1-1 this season with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 18.0 innings. He also threw 6.1 scoreless innings in his last start with four strikeouts and two conceded hits in a 5-0 win over the New York Mets.
