The San Diego Padres look to end their season on a high and sweep the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The San Diego Padres are heating up as they prepare for the postseason, when they host the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. The Padres are trying to win their 90th game of the season today, while Arizona tries to finish the year at .500 with an 81-81 record. The Padres will go for the series sweep today after winning the opener 7-4, and they won the series on Saturday getting the Game 2 victory in a 5-1 final. San Diego will face off against the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the playoffs. The Cubs secured home field for that series before the Padres even played on Saturday, beating the St. Louis Cardinals for their 91st win of the season to earn the first NL Wild Card spot. The Padres have won six of their last seven games, and the Diamondbacks are trying to avoid losing five games in a row to end the season. The Padres have the -158 money odds to sweep this series at home today.

The Padres have relished in Fernando Tatis Jr.’s return to the lineup. The San Diego star came back on Friday from a three-game absence from an illness, and he quickly hit a grand slam. Tatis Jr. hit a homer in his third consecutive game, by going long in the first inning of Game 2. Xander Bogaerts followed that up with a two-run homer of his own in the first to secure all the runs the Padres would need to win on Saturday. Elias Diaz hit a two-run homer in the second inning to add some insurance. All the runs of the game came via the long bomb, with Geraldo Perdomo driving in the only run of the game for Arizona on a solo shot in the fifth.

The Diamondbacks will try to get back to .500 for the year when they start Brandon Pfaadt, who is 13-8 with a 5.00 ERA. The Padres will go for the sweep by starting JP Sears, who is 8-11 with a 5.12 ERA.
