The Arizona Diamondbacks look to clinch a series win on Saturday night when they take on the Colorado Rockies. The Diamondbacks won their second straight game on Friday night when they beat the Rockies 14-8 in the first game of the series. The Diamondbacks have now won seven of their last 10 games and it has pushed their record to 38-37 on the season. They currently sit in fourth place in the NL West, two games back of the San Diego Padres for third. They are eight games back of the first place Los Angeles Dodgers. Saturday they will send Merrill Kelly to the mound as they look to win a third straight game. Kelly is 6-3 with a 3.41 ERA on the season. In his last start he gave up four runs on seven hits in a loss to the Padres. He had gone two straight starts without giving up a run, but struggled against San Diego.

The Rockies will counter with rookie Carson Palmquist as they try to even the series on Saturday.

Palmquist is still looking for his first major league win of his career. He is 0-4 with a 7.76 ERA through his fist six starts.

The Rockies did get a win in his last start, but had dropped his first five outings. Palmquist went four and two-third innings against the Washington Nationals on Monday. He gave up four runs on four hits and the Rockies won 8-4, but Palmquist didn’t pitch the required five innings to record the win.

The loss on Friday was the second in a row, but they had won a season-high four games in a row before the mini slide. The Rockies still have the worst record in the MLB at 17-59.
