Corbin Carroll led off the game with a line drive home run for Arizona and Randal Grichuk smacked a solo shot in the second to carry the team to a 3-2 victory on Tuesday night. Merrill Kelly worked six solid innings to improve to 2-0 on the season. The homers were the first of the season for both Carroll and Grichuk.

Cal Quantrill authored a quality start for Colorado, allowing three runs over six innings with six strikeouts, but the offense sputtered with two runners caught stealing and a 1-for-6 mark with runners in scoring position. Elias Diaz drove in a run with an infield single and is slashing .324/.351/.412 so far, while Ryan McMahon had a RBI groundout while extending his hitting streak to eight games.

Left-handers will duel in the series finale, as the Rockies give the ball to Austin Gomber for the third time this season. He has allowed six runs and fanned 10 in 8.2 innings with a pair of no-decisions. Tommy Henry counters for the Diamondbacks, coming in at 0-1 in two starts with a 7.00 ERA and 1.778 WHIP over nine innings.
