After torpedoing through their opening series, the New York Yankees open a 3-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday

The New York Yankees (3-0) created a stir on the opening weekend of the Major League Baseball season, crushing 15 home runs in a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers with several players using torpedo-shaped bats designed to attune the sweet spot of the wood to a batter’s swing. On Tuesday, the Yankees open a three-game series in the Bronx against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks (2-2), who split four at home with the Chicago Cubs to open the campaign and former Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes is set to make his Arizona debut in the series opener.

After clubbing nine home runs on Saturday, New York added four more on Sunday in a 12-3 rout of the Brewers, with Jazz Chisholm connecting twice with Aaron Judge and Ben Rice also going deep. The Yankee bullpen provided 4.1 shutout innings in the win. Judge is off to a ridiculously hot start, going 6-for-11 with four homers and 11 RBI while not using one of the controversial bats. Chisholm went 5-for-12 with three bombs and six RBI.

The Diamondbacks erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the eighth on Sunday to salvage a split with their 10-6 victory. Lourdes Gurriel smacked a two-run homer as part of the outburst while Gerardo Perdomo had a two-run double in the frame. Eugenio Suárez hit four homers with seven RBI in the four-game series while new first baseman Josh Naylor went 6-for-15.

Right-hander Will Warren gets the ball for the Yankees. In six appearances and five starts last season, he was 0-3 with a 10.32 ERA and 1.90 WHIP but struck out 29 in 22.2 innings. Burnes was 15-9 with the Baltimore Orioles a season ago, posting a 2.92 ERA and 1.10 WHIP in 194.1 innings.
