On a five-game winning streak, Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound in series opener against the Braves.

Winners of nine of their last 12 games, the Atlanta Braves return home to Truist Park on Friday night as they welcome the National League West Division leading Los Angeles Dodgers for the first game in a three-game weekend series. The Dodgers, on their second-longest winning streak of the young season, have won five games in a row but have lost two in a row on the road as they send Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3-2, 1.06 ERA) to the mound for his seventh start of the season having allowed just four earned runs in his first six outings. The Braves will counter with second-year right-hander Grant Holmes (2-1, 4.50 ERA) off his worst start of the season where he allowed six earned runs over 5.2 innings of work in Saturday’s win at Arizona.

Hernandez, in his 10th season in the majors and second with the Dodgers, is closing in on 1,000 career hits and recently tallied his 200th career double, 200th career homer and drove in his 600th run in the last week. The 32-year-old native of the Dominican Republic is riding a nine-game hitting streak and has scored a run in seven of his last eight games.

Braves third baseman Austin Riley leads the Braves with 58 total bases this season and has collected 14 hits in his last 11 games. Riley, in his seventh season in Atlanta, had topped 30 home runs and 30 doubles in three consecutive seasons before being sidelined for two months with a hand injury late in 2024.

Los Angeles has won nine of the last 11 meetings in this series including five in a row sweeping the Braves in a three-game home series back in early April.
