The Los Angeles Dodgers start Yoshinobu Yamamoto in effort to tie this series on Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The St. Louis Cardinals go for the series win against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 2 on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals dominated in the opener, certainly on the mound, winning 5-0. The win was a nice bounce back for the Cardinals against one of the best teams in the league after dropping their last series against their in-state rival in the Kansas City Royals. St. Louis is now just four games back of first place in the NL Central. Los Angeles has to turn up the volume in this one with the San Diego Padres on its tail only one game back of first place in the NL West. The good news for the Dodgers is that they are the -180 favorites even on the road to tie this series today.

Sonny Gray took over the game, improving to 7-1 on the season after pitching 6.1 scoreless innings. Gray gave up eight hits but he certainly had a bend but don’t break mentality. Gray was still sharp even though there was a nearly hour-and-a-half rain delay. Pedro Pages gave Gray all the run support he would need by hitting a two-run homer in the second inning. The Dodgers lost despite out-hitting the Cardinals 10-7. This is the first series of the season between these historic National League juggernauts. Gray’s magical season continues tossing 20 consecutive scoreless innings. Gray has not allowed a run in four of his last six starts.

Erick Fedde will try to channel some of that energy from Gray when he is projected to get the start for St. Louis on Saturday. Fedde is 3-5 but has a strong 3.82 ERA. The Dodgers will come up with an even bigger ace up their sleeve, having a great chance to tie this series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto gets the start for LA. He is 6-4 with a 2.39 ERA.
