The two teams played a two-game series in Japan in which the Dodgers won both, but then the Cubs took two of three in Los Angeles. The Cubs will send Shota Imanaga to the mound in the opener of the series on Tuesday. Imanaga comes into Tuesday 2-1 with a 2.22 ERA. He has given up a run or fewer in four of his five starts this season. One of those came in Japan as he went four innings against the Dodgers without giving up a hit. The Cubs, though, would lose that game 4-1.

May has pitched well this season as he has gone 1-1 with a 1.06 ERA. He is coming off a start in which he went six innings against the Washington Nationals. He gave up just three hits and one run to earn the win.

The Dodgers come into Tuesday fresh off a series win over the Texas Rangers. They took two of three form Texas and have now won five of their last six games.

They now sit at 16-7 on the season and are in a first place tie with the San Diego Padres in the NL West.
