The Dodgers won on the long ball on Monday as they relatively cruised to victory. Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman both hit homers as LA got up to a 6-0 in the sixth until the Marlins scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the inning. Agustin Ramirez made in closer in the eighth hitting a three-run homer. It still wasn’t enough though to pull off the comeback. Ben Casparius got the win despite just going four innings giving up five hits but only giving up one run. Marlins starter and former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara is still trying to find his form after getting the loss giving up five runs in five innings.

The Marlins will try to tie this series by starting Cal Quantrill who came over in the offseason after pitching for the Colorado Rockies last season. The righty is still trying to adjust to his new team with a 2-3 record and an 8.10 ERA. The Dodgers will counter with Tony Gonsolin who is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA. The righty got his first start of the season and his first start since 2023 after Tommy John surgery after a win against the Marlins at home giving up three runs in six innings.
