The division-leading Los Angeles Dodgers aim to snap out of their losing skid as the series against the San Diego Padres opens at Petco Park on Monday.

Losers of eight of their last 15 games, the Los Angeles Dodgers head south to Petco Park on Monday evening to open a three-game series against the San Diego Padres, as the National League West Division leaders look to extend their cushion atop the standings. The Padres rebounded from a six-game losing skid in mid-May to win 10 of their last 16 games to pull within two games of the Dodgers as they send veteran right hander Nick Pivetta (6-2, 3.16 ERA) to the mound in search of his second win in his last seven outings. The Dodgers will counter with sixth-year right-hander Dustin May (3-4, 4.09 ERA), who has won two of his last three starts, allowing a combined six earned runs in that span.

Tied for the second-most home runs in Major League Baseball this season, Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has a team-high 23 home runs this season despite being held without a dinger in his last six games, the longest homerless streak for the 30-year-old Oshu, Japan native since a seven-game drought back in late April. Ohtani, who last season became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season, recently surpassed 600 career RBIs and is on pace for his fourth 40-plus home run season in the last five years.

Padres third baseman Manny Machado ranks seventh in MLB hitting .318 this season and comes into Monday on a six-game hitting streak. He is hitting .387 so far in June with four home runs and eight RBIs.

This is the first meeting between the division foes since Los Angeles knocked San Diego out of the playoffs back in October 2024 en route to their second World Series championship in five years.
