Yoshinobu Yamamoto and the Dodgers will open up a three-game series against Jesus Luzardo and the Phillies on Friday afternoon.

On Friday afternoon, the Philadelphia Phillies will continue their home stand into another series, facing the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first game of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Dodgers are one of the two last undefeated teams in Major League Baseball, with the San Diego Padres who are both in the NL West. After two wins in Tokyo to start the season, they made clean sweeps in three games against the Detroit Tigers and the Atlanta Braves. While everyone had been good, outfielder Tommy Edman has been the surprising piece of the puzzle. He has four home runs and seven RBIs through eight games.

The Phillies are not undefeated, but they are 5-1 through their first two series of the season. They won two of three games against the Washington Nationals on the road in the first series before coming home and sweeping the Colorado Rockies at the beginning of the week. Kyle Schwarber is off to a hot start with the bat. He is batting .308 with four home runs and eight RBIs through six games.

Los Angeles will head back in the rotation to Yoshinobu Yamamoto to start the series on the mound. The right-handed, Japanese-born pitcher is 1-0 this season with a 2.70 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 10.0 innings pitched. He gave up two earned runs on five hits in five innings in his last start, ending in a non-decision. He also had 10 strikeouts in that game.

On the opposite side, the hometown Philadelphia will start newcomer Jesus Luzardo back on the mound in this first game. The left-hander is 1-0 this season with a 3.60 ERA. He has started just one game this season and dominated. He did allow two earned runs on five hits in five innings, but he also struck out 11 batters in that outing.
