The Los Angeles Angels look to move above .500 when they host the San Francisco Giants on Sunday for this series finale.
The Los Angeles Angels host the San Francisco Giants for this rubber match finale in a series that has been a great pitcher’s duel so far. Los Angeles won the opener 2-0 on the arm of Tyler Anderson who pitched six shutout innings and only gave up three hits. Logan Webb got the loss in that game and he only gave up a run in six innings. The Giants bounced back on Saturday to tie the series with a 3-2 win. The Angels have now lost four of their last five games. Odds makers still expect this to be a very close game like the first two matchups of the series with the Giants holding the slight favorite with a -115 line. This is the only series between these California teams this season.

The Giants got out to an early 2-0 lead in Game 2 of this series on Saturday on a two-run homer from third baseman Matt Chapman in this first inning. Shortstop Willy Adames drove what turned out to be the game-winning run in the third inning with an RBI single. Mike Trout would homer in both the fourth and sixth innings for LA’s only runs of the game. Landen Roupp was the MVP of the game going seven innings with his only blemishes coming against Trout.
We have two big names starting for these teams that should keep the quality of pitching high come Sunday. Justin Verlander will get the start for San Francisco. The future hall of famer is still looking for his first win with the Giants with a 0-1 record and a 6.75 ERA. Verlander gave up four runs in 5.2 innings in his last start against the Philadelphia Phillies and got tabbed with the loss. Los Angeles will counter with Yusei Kikuchi who is also looking for his first win of the season going 0-3 with a 4.13. The lefty pitched well in his last start against the Texas Rangers only giving up a run in six innings but still got the loss as the Angels couldn’t score any runs.
