Two of the hottest teams in Arizona meet on Wednesday when the San Francisco Giants visit the Kansas City Royals in spring training action.

The San Francisco Giants (17-6) and Kansas City Royals (16-9) have each won seven of their last 10 games in Cactus League play and are set to collide at Kansas City’s spring home, Surprise Stadium on Wednesday. Giants center fielder Jung Hoo Lee is day-to-day with a sore back, while backup catcher Tom Murphy remains out after an injection for a herniated disc. Kansas City reliever James McArthur has yet to appear in a game this spring as he recovers from surgery to address a fracture in his right elbow.

San Francisco split a pair of games on Tuesday night, with one split-squad beating the San Diego Padres 4-3 and the other dropping a 3-1 decision to the Colorado Rockies. Robbie Ray allowed just two hits and an unearned run over five innings against San Diego, while Matt Chapman and Patrick Bailey gave them a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back RBI knocks.

The Royals dodged a scare when star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was plunked last week, but he came away with just a bruised forearm and returned to action on Saturday. In Monday’s 12-1 rout of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Witt was 3-for-3 with a double, a homer and two RBI and is slashing .333/.400/.694 in Arizona.

Right-hander Michael Wacha, who re-signed with Kansas City over the winter, gets the start on Wednesday. He’s allowed 13 runs in eight Cactus League innings, while striking out 10 and serving up four home runs. Right-hander Jordan Hicks is scheduled for the Giants and he’s had a rough go his last two starts, allowing seven runs over 5.1 innings.
